ACUPUNCTURE

The initial session can take about 90 minutes because we need to have a thorough discussion about your health concerns and provide an acupuncture treatment afterwards. With regular sessions, we have a shorter chat about your current symptoms and then proceed to a treatment, so this can take approximately 50 minutes. Each session involves a chat about your health, asking questions about your ailment, your lifestyle, your diet, etc. We want to discover what changes have occurred to cause your issue(s). We then proceed to a treatment in an effort to bring comfort & harmony to your body.

BIRTH ACUPRESSURE

This option is a consultation (online or in-person) to help a person deal with their pregnancy, labour and postpartum care. It will offer advice on what acupressure points on the body will help you deal with pregnancy issues, provide support during labour, and to assist with the postpartum period. If your baby is breech, then the session can focus on that issue, in an effort to turn the baby for an optimal birth position. A moxibustion home-kit may be available to you with this session.

What is acupuncture? It is based on the traditional Chinese medicine belief of keeping our body in harmony or balance. When there is a health problem, this is an imbalance - what western medicine calls disease. Acupuncture works to bring balance back, or maintain the balance to avoid disease. It works on the physical, mental and emotional elements of the person to bring harmony. The use of tiny needles to bring ‘qi’ (pronounced ‘chi’) to the area is the most common treatment. However, a session may involve other treatment options such as moxibustion, cupping, and acupressure; and some lifestyle advice based on eastern theory and philosophy.Treatments offer a drug-free option, are cost effective and safe; and recommended by the World Health Organisation for many ailments that affect us today.Payments for Acupuncture are covered by Revenue and most private health insurers in Ireland.
